NCCA Training Courses

For professional cleaners wanting to learn more, the NCCA organises a series of comprehensive training courses.

Professional Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

Professional Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

Spend a weekend in Leicester at the NCCA’s next entry level carpet and upholstery cleaning training course, for both newcomers to the business and experienced professionals. Learn from impartial training on a wide spectrum of carpet and soft furnishing cleaning equipment and techniques - with the added bonus of NCCA membership at the end of the line.

Attendance at this, or an equivalent course, is mandatory for all new applicants for NCCA membership, who must achieve a pass to an appropriate standard in the test that follows to become a full member of the NCCA and to add the coveted logo to their company name.

The two-day course is led by Paul Pearce (NCCA Technical Director, IICRC Chairman) and Pawlo Woloszyn (NCCA Director and Past President), both practising carpet cleaners in touch daily with customers and their problems. Trainees reap the benefit of their combined experience to avoid the pitfalls that lie in wait for the unprepared.

The course includes a multiple-choice examination and is certificated. Each trainee also receives the NCCA’s extensive Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Manual. For further information, including prices, terms and conditions and venue details, please download the course programme and booking form.

Advanced Spot & Stain Treatment and Removal Course

Advanced Spot & Stain Treatment and Removal Course

You will learn how to identify the nature of a stain, specific things to look out for and how to advise the client before you start.

Stains can be complex and require patience and knowledge of appropriate cleaning solutions. It is important to define what fabric, fibre, dyes and finishing agents have been used to create the soft furnishing being worked upon.

You will learn to identify the stain and establish the chemical solution to be applied. The course teaches how to determine the expected results, and not to guarantee that complete removal of a stain will be achieved.

This is a one-day course, held in Leicestershire. It does not include an examination, however each delegate will receive an attendance certificate, course manual and three spotting tools which can be used on the day and taken home to use again.

For further information, including prices, course programme and venue details, please download the booking form.

An Introduction to Hard Floor Cleaning

The use of hard flooring, whether stone tile or wood, has grown substantially. In the last decade or two, high quality vinyls and linoleums have been used more extensively in private homes, and not just in schools and businesses.

As new and varied types of hard flooring are fitted, there has developed a growing gap in the floor cleaning and maintenance market. More carpet cleaners have seen the possibilities of adding hard floor maintenance to their portfolio. The NCCA Hard Floor cleaning course is a practical introduction with a hands-on element.

The 2 day course deals specifically with the range of resilient floors, engineered and natural wood, ceramic tiles and touches on natural stone. The course covers:

  • Recognising different types of flooring and understanding what is achievable.
  • Stripping and sealing vinyl floor surfaces.
  • Maintaining linoleum and marmoleum.
  • Knowing what can be done to natural wood and engineered wood without sanding?
  • Is it worth getting into tile and grout cleaning?
  • A primer to entering the world of natural stone maintenance.
  • Health and Safety, Risk Assessments and hazards involved in using equipment.

Trainees are provided with a 70+ page manual with complete 'How to' instructions and lists of procedures and equipment requirements, plus a professional Certificate of Attendance.

The course explains what types of products are available for each type of flooring. The instructor, Keith Robertson, has 35 years experience in the cleaning industry and outlines the pitfalls as well as the earning potential of offering this potentially lucrative service to your business.
