For those of you wishing to update your
skills, or even start from scratch, the NCCA organise a series of
comprehensive training courses.
Professional Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning
The Association insists that all applicants
for membership undertake at least the basic NCCA training in carpet
and upholstery cleaning, or equivalent*, and reach the prescribed
NCCA standard in the written test papers which follow.
The course provides impartial training on the
complete spectrum of carpet and soft furnishing cleaning techniques
and equipment currently available within the industry. It is aimed
at both newcomers to the business as well as more experienced
professionals who may wish to extend, or update, their technical
skills and knowledge or perhaps complement the training courses
provided by equipment manufacturers. The itinerary offers a thorough
grounding in all aspects of the carpet and upholstery craft and
covers theoretical and practical instruction in basic cleaning as
well as spot and stain removal.
The training will be led by two NCCA
Directors, who are practicing carpet cleaners in daily touch with
customers and their problems, as indeed are all the Directors. As a
result, participants are able to reap the benefit of their combined
experience and thus avoid the pitfalls, which lie in wait for the
unprepared.
This course is run over two days and is
usually held in Leicestershire, it includes a multiple-choice
examination and is certificated. Each delegate also receives the
NCCA’s extensive Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Manual. If you are
interested in attending please download the booking form.

or in the workplace. If you have completed both Carpet and
Upholstery Cleaning training through the IICRC you can then bypass

Advanced Spot and Stain Removal
During NCCA Spot & Stain training, course
delegates will be taught how to identify a stain, what specific
things to look out for and how to advise the client prior to
carrying out any work. Only once the work and possible outcome has
been assessed should any attempt at stain removal take place.
Stains can be of a complex nature and will
require patience and knowledge of appropriate cleaning solutions. It
is also important to decipher what fabric, fibre, dyes, and
finishing agents etcetera, have been used to create the soft
furnishing being worked upon.
The idea of the school is to assist in
understanding the item/s being worked on, identify the stain and
establish the chemical solution to be applied. It will also teach
how to determine the expected results, not forgetting that complete
removal of a stain should never be guaranteed.
This is a one-day course, again, held in
Leicestershire. It does not include an examination, however each
delegate will receive an attendance certificate, course manual and
three spotting tools to be used on the day, which can be taken home
to use again.
If you are interested in attending please
download the booking form or contact the NCCA Office.
